Is there a problem? We discuss it from the viewpoint of a
business manager, in basic and hopefully non technical terms. But,
yes, there is a problem.
General issues. Is there a problem? Is it just media hype? Is it
only big banks and government? No.
PC
Hardware issues. What is the RTC, the BIOS, why should these be
a problem. A good background on the issues involved, and perhaps an
inkling that things are not as simple as you might have at first
thought. Put together by a qualified computer hardware technician.
PC
Software Issues. We discuss some of the problems involved, with
particular attention to databases and spreadsheets. All the from point
of view of a long time Pascal programmer who paid as little attention
as all the rest of the world to this problem. An insider's view on why
it can be so hard to fix!
The
Fixes. We look at the problems, and in particular why there can
be no 'silver bullet'. We look at why the 'young 14 year old computer
prodigy' syndrome is doing more harm than good.
The
Legal Aspects. While we in no way profess to be lawyers, we have
collected a range of opinions that will give concern to some people
(mainly vendors).
The
Outlook. What can you do NOW, to get your own house in order.
These technical 'white papers' are all very good, but at the end of
the day, what can you as a home user or businessman do to get around
the problem? We discuss the issues from the aspect of a small
businessman and the home user.

Y2K Links. We have found a lot of Y2K links (as I am sure you
have). These ones we have found to be useful for the PC user.
Our contribution to the solution! Apart from raising the
general level of debate, we offer a software PC testing tool that lets
you know if you have a hardware problem. Have a quick look at the
AllClear 2000 Pro page.
