SIMCOM is a "one-stop IT shop", providing total IT solutions to businesses with an average of 25-50 workstations.

Through internal promotion and company growth, we have an exciting opening in our Support Services department for another Network Specialist.

Your daily challenges include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical Network Audits, & solution consulting
  • Planning & infrastructure upgrades for existing customers
  • Ongoing maintenance to existing technology systems
  • Emergency on-site troubleshooting support and resolution for a wide range of network, server and workstation related issues
  • Building, configuring and installing Workstation and Server solutions

Your Skills, Qualifications & Experience ideally, will demonstrate and include:

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, SBS 2003, Exchange Server, Terminal Services, SQL Server, AD & DNS
  • Experience in Arcserve, BackupExec, Trend Micro CSM suite, AVG Network Edition, Linux based Firewalls, IPSEC VPN’s, SHDSL and inter-site connectivity, HP ML server product range & VMWARE Virtualisation an advantage
  • Experience deploying and maintaining an SOE an advantage
  • Novell Netware experience an advantage
  • Must have MCP, MCSA, MCSE or working toward accreditation
  • Willingness to learn and adopt our ‘Best Practices’ for OS and third-party software configurations
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in SMB environments or equivalent support role, preferable knowledge of server SCSI/SAS RAID systems, NAS and/or SAN technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to communicate seemlessly both technically and in "layman terms" when required
  • Strong customer support focus
  • Must have warm sense of humour
  • A clear/logical thinker, ability to troubleshoot a wide range of hardware and software solutions
